Lang Receives Karl King Distinguished Service Award

Iowa Bandmasters announce 2018 Karl King Distinguished Service Award recipient- Active

The Karl King Distinguished Service Awards (Active and Retired) are given to members of Iowa Bandmasters Association who have made significant contributions to the Iowa Bandmaster Association organization and school band programs. Winners are selected by the members of the Iowa Bandmasters Association from a pool made up of the winners of the award of the same name given in each of the six (6) IBA districts.

David Lang, director at Independence High School in Independence, Iowa is the recipient of the 2018 Karl King Distinguished Service Award.  Mr. Lang is currently in his 24th year of teaching at Independence High School.  He taught at Central City Community Schools for three years and one year at East Buchanan Community Schools.  Mr. Lang is a 1988 graduate of The University of Iowa, where he earned his Bachelors in Music Education.

Mr. Lang received this award May 11th at the IBA Banquet at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown.
