The Independence School District was informed of an individual who attended the graduation ceremony on Sunday, June 28 who tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. We are working closely with Buchanan County Public Health and through contact tracing, individuals identified as a close contact will be notified. This process does take some time so if you feel you are a close contact of any COVID positive individual please follow the guidance below.
- Close contact is defined as within 6 feet for 15 minutes or more.
- If someone feels they have been in close contact with a case they should call their healthcare provider to discuss testing. Other options for testing include Buchanan County Health Center COVID Call Center, 319-332-0894 (open 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday-Friday), or go online to testiowa.com or call 515-575-2131 or 844-844-1561 (toll free).
- Any close contact to a case needs to self-isolate for 14 days, even if the test comes back negative.
We need everyone to take precautions to slow the spread of COVID. For more information on prevention please see the Iowa Department of Public Health or CDC Websites.
