Students in General Music at East and West Elementary are exposed to a variety of musical activities that develop rhythmic, pitch, and artistic abilities. We sing, dance, play instruments, act, and listen to great music. Our students also perform at different events around the year including Veterans Day, a winter program, and a spring program.
Studying music in elementary school has a wealth of benefits. Elementary music is essential for preparing children to perform in band or choir at the secondary level. All students benefit from being able to feel the beat, sing in tune, and move expressively as these skills can be used in several lifelong activities. In addition, music fosters creativity and cooperation, important skills to have in the workplace of the 21st Century.
