Our Growers seem to be few and far between this year! We are hoping to serve local produce at least 3-4 times a week through the fall and we can only do that if we have growers who we can buy from. If you know of any local produce farmers or are a grower and would like to sell to us, call us, 319-334-7423. (Please click on the link below to view our proposed menus for next fall, regarding fruits and vegetables. If you are a grower, you’ll be able to see what we’d like to serve and when!)
We served local fresh asparagus in the school lunches in May from Heartland Farms and it was a BIG hit!! Just like last year, we were surprised at how much asparagus we went through and how many good, positive comments we heard from students! (and teachers!)
