The third grade curriculum provides challenging and engaging experiences for students. Grade Level Expectations (GLEs) have been developed and are available on each teacher’s website. The main focus of GLEs at third grade include:
Reading: Students focus on reading strategies such as questioning, making connections, determining importance. Students also work to improve their reading fluency.
Writing: Third graders write paragraphs using a minimum of 3-5 complete sentences.
Math: The essential skill at this grade level is multiplication.
Science: Third grade students learn about and have a basic understanding of the rock cycle, the digestive system, and the physics of sound.
Social Studies: Units at third grade allow students to learn about geography and various types of communities.
