The sixth grade curriculum provides challenging and engaging experiences for students. Grade Level Expectations (GLEs) have been developed and are available on each teacher’s website. The main focus of GLEs at sixth grade include:
Reading: Students deepen their understanding and practice using comprehension strategies while independently reading a variety of texts.
Writing: In sixth grade students continue to develop their writing as they compose pieces that are realistic, fictional, narrative, and informative.
Math: The sixth grade curriculum focuses on decimals, fractions, ratios/proportions, geometry, and integers.
Science: Units of study include levers and pulleys, variables, plants, and a study of the environment.
Social Studies: Students study geography and learn about other countries in North America and those in South America.
