The fourth grade curriculum provides challenging and engaging experiences for students. Grade Level Expectations (GLEs) have been developed and are available on each teacher’s website. The main focus of GLEs at fifth grade include:
Reading: Fourth graders work on various comprehension strategies focusing on different kinds of literature such as realistic fiction, non-fiction, mysteries, historical fiction, and poetry.
Writing: Students focus on writing for a specific purpose-to describe, to tell a story, and to inform.
Math: Students learn about place value, multiplication, division, geometry, graphing, fractions, decimals, and measurement.
Science: The fourth grade curriculum includes the study of animals, weather, and the respiratory and circulatory systems.
Social Studies: Units of study include the regions of the United States.
