Independence High School is located in Independence, Iowa, a town situated in the northeast part of the state. Independence has a population of approximately 6,000 people. The student population ranges from 550 to 580.
The school runs on a 4X4 block schedule which was implemented in the 1998-1999 school year. This means that students take 4 classes during each of 4 grading periods (terms) for a total of 16 classes throughout the school year.
